Where to Stay in Mauritius This Summer: Your Guide to Sunlife Resorts
28 April 2026
Mauritius is beautiful wherever you stay. Turquoise lagoons, warm trade winds, fresh seafood, and a culture that stays with you long after the flight home. That part is easy.
Choosing where to stay is where it gets interesting.
Sunlife has four resorts and a private coastal club with accommodation across the east and west coasts of Mauritius. Each one has its own personality. So instead of simply telling you they are all wonderful, which they truly are according to our guests, here’s what actually sets them apart.
Sugar Beach: For those who like it glamorous

Five stars. West coast. Sunsets worth planning around.
If you want your holiday to feel a little cinematic, Sugar Beach is the one. This fully renovated resort blends plantation-style elegance with lush gardens, a beautiful beach, and that glowing west coast light that makes everything feel golden.
There are 238 rooms and suites, all with a terrace or balcony, plus two pools, three restaurants, bars, a spa, and a kids club that families genuinely appreciate. It feels polished and relaxed at the same time.
Golfers get unlimited green fees at Ile aux Cerfs Golf Club and Tamarina Golf Club, with transfers included. Guests also have access to La Pirogue next door, which is ideal when you want a different setting for lunch or sunset drinks.
Best for: Couples who love a little glamour, families who want comfort, and anyone who enjoys dressing for dinner.
Long Beach: For those who like it modern and full of energy

Five stars. East coast. Bright, bold, lively.
Long Beach feels fresh, playful, and full of momentum. It is the most contemporary resort in the Sunlife collection, with sleek design, a lively atmosphere, and the kind of setting that lets you do everything or nothing at all.
The east coast brings calm lagoons, emerald water, and beautiful sunrises. Families, active travellers, and guests who like plenty of dining and activity options usually feel right at home here.
Best for: Guests who want energy alongside escapism, families who like variety, and travellers drawn to contemporary style.
La Pirogue: For those who want the real Mauritius

Four stars. West coast. Warm, colourful, full of character.
La Pirogue feels deeply connected to the island. It is vibrant, relaxed, and rooted in place, with Le Morne in the background and Mauritian spirit running through the whole stay.
Its 248 thatched bungalows open onto tropical gardens, with the beach always nearby. The atmosphere is easy and full of life, from long lunches to seafood curry to a glass at the much-loved Van Der Stel Wine Bar.
Families love it here too, especially those who want children to feel part of the island, not separated from it. Guests also have access to Sugar Beach’s restaurants and bars.
Best for: Cultural explorers, food lovers, families with curious kids, and anyone who wants a stay with real personality.
Ambre: For easy days and sociable nights

Four stars. East coast. Adults only. All inclusive.
Ambre keeps things easy. No children. No overthinking. Just a beachfront stay where meals, drinks, and activities are already taken care of.
The atmosphere is warm and sociable, the lagoon is beautiful, and the all-inclusive format makes it very easy to settle into holiday mode. It works especially well for couples, friends, and solo travellers who want sunshine without complication.
Best for: Couples, trips with friends, solo escapes, and anyone craving a holiday that feels effortless.
The Bay Club at Anahita: For those who want space, calm, and great golf

East coast. 213 hectares. Coastal club living.
The Bay Club at Anahita offers something quieter and more spacious. Set across 213 hectares on the east coast, it feels calm, private, and grounded, with room to breathe.
There are generous villas and suites, two championship golf courses, a serene spa, and a more residential feel than a classic resort stay.
Best for: Golf lovers, privacy seekers, and travellers looking for a slower pace.
One last thing: a little more flexibility

Sometimes travel calls for a little more flexibility. With Sunlife’s Peace of Mind offer, you can book with greater confidence, then count on extra support if your plans need to change.
If your return flight is delayed, cancelled, or otherwise disrupted due to unforeseen circumstances and you need to stay longer, you will receive 50% off the best available Half Board rate for the extra nights, plus a free upgrade to Full Board. An upgrade to All Inclusive is also available, with the supplement varying by resort and payable at the hotel.
The offer also includes flexible cancellation up to 3 days before arrival. It is valid for stays from now to 31 December 2026, on new bookings made and confirmed between now and 30 September 2026, across participating Sunlife resorts.
