Sugar Beach Junior Croquet Cup: Back for the Second Edition

An old game. A fresh generation. And one beautiful lawn to play it on.

The Sugar Beach Junior Croquet Cup returns for its second edition on 7 March 2027, inviting children aged 6 to 13 to discover a sport built on patience, precision and a clever next move.

Following the first edition, the Cup is back with another group of young players ready to learn the game, sharpen their skills and see where a few well-placed shots can take them.

More than a one-day competition

The Cup is designed as a journey, not just a final match.

Across 10 training sessions at Sugar Beach, children will learn the fundamentals, grow in confidence and start to understand the strategy behind every shot. Guided by experienced croquet instructors and supported by a dedicated training manual, they’ll move from first swings to competition-ready play.

Learning the game, one shot at a time

There is plenty of fun in it too.

New friends. Friendly rivalry. The satisfaction of sending a ball cleanly through the hoop. And that moment when a player starts looking at the lawn differently, already thinking two or three moves ahead.

It’s a game that asks for focus, coordination and confidence, with plenty of room to play.

Meet the first champion

Last year’s inaugural champion, 11-year-old Andy, described croquet as “chess on grass.”

It is easy to see why.

The game asks for timing, strategy and a little courage when the pressure is on. Andy held his nerve right to the final game, turned the match around and claimed the very first Junior Croquet Cup title.

Now, the second edition is ready for its next group of contenders.

Something to aim for

This year’s winner will take home a cash prize of Rs 25,000, but the real story starts long before the final shot.

It begins with learning something new, finding your rhythm and seeing just how far a little practice can take you.
