Sugar Beach International Junior Croquet Cup

A New Junior Croquet Tournament Comes to Mauritius

Introducing the Sugar Beach International Junior Croquet Cup

03 February 2026

In March 2026, the lawns of Sugar Beach will welcome a new kind of excitement designed especially for young players. The first Sugar Beach International Junior Croquet Cup will take place on 15 March 2026, introducing children aged 6 to 14 to the world of croquet in a way that feels playful, elegant, and easy to enjoy.

This junior croquet tournament in Mauritius is all about discovery. It is about stepping onto the grass, holding a mallet for the first time, and learning through play, movement, and shared moments.

Guided by an international champion

This first junior edition is proudly sponsored by Jenny Clarke, winner of the last two Sugar Beach International Croquet Cups. With an impressive international career that includes a Women’s Association Croquet World Championship title and multiple Australian Open victories, Jenny brings both expertise and generosity to the event.

Her approach is refined yet accessible, making croquet feel welcoming and inspiring for children discovering the sport for the very first time.

Why croquet is great for children

Beyond friendly competition, croquet offers meaningful benefits for child development.
The colours, shapes, and textures of the equipment stimulate sensory awareness. The game supports hand–eye coordination, spatial understanding, focus, and an appreciation of shared rules, while encouraging social interaction and new friendships.

The tournament will host 12 children, girls and boys, creating an intimate and social atmosphere where confidence grows naturally and play leads the way.

At the end of the day, a prize-giving ceremony will celebrate participation, effort, and the joy of the game.

A shared lawn across generations

The Junior Croquet Cup takes place just before the Sugar Beach International Croquet Cup 2026, which will be held from 16 to 19 March 2026 on the iconic lawn in front of the Sugar Beach manor. It creates a natural link between young players and a wider international croquet tradition in Mauritius.
